One of the hallmarks of Downtown Albany is the beautiful hanging flower baskets. Visitors and locals often comment on the beauty and joy they bring as they stroll or drive through our Downtown.

Early in the year, our beautiful flowers are planted by Bauman Farm & Garden in their hothouses in Gervis. The starts are grown in our EarthPlanters self-watering planters. These planters generally allow us to water the baskets every other day. Before upgrading to EarthPlanters, our watering staff had to double water on hot days working in high heat. Now daily watering is sufficient even on the hottest days.
Volunteers hang the baskets in May, and the watering attendants water and feed them through the summer. Volunteers return in the fall to retire the flowers, and ADA’s planters are picked up by Bauman’s, ready for planting the next year.
