Downtown Trick-or-Treat is Fun For All

It’s time to get ready for family fun! Downtown Trick-or-Treat is Saturday, October 26th.

As usual, trick-or-treating is from 11 am to 1 pm. Dozens of merchants will be outside their doors handing out goodies to costumed Albany kids. The fun will extend from  First to  Third Avenues and Montgomery to Washington Streets.

Just look for the orange and black balloons at participating member businesses and restaurants.

The online costume contest was such a hit last year we are doing it again. To enter, little fairies and scary monsters just need to stop at one of the Xtreme Grafx photo stations in Downtown. Look for signs and balloons near the 1st Avenue parklet and Casetta di Pasta in Two Rivers market. The photos will be sorted by category and posted on Facebook for a public vote.

Winners will be announced on Halloween on the Albany Downtown Association’s Facebook and the ADA website.

Kid contest age groups are 0-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years, 10-12 years plus now 13-18 for middle and high schoolers.

The winner in each age group will receive a First Burger Kid Meal, a ride on the  Albany Carousel, and a ticket to The Pix Theatre. Runners up will win a ticket to the Pix Theatre.

Every year we see such fun themed flocks of costumes that this year we’ve added a “group” category to the contest. This is open to all ages. Families, friends, teams, colleagues, and others are all invited to enter. (Only family-friendly costumes, please). The group prize will be a Downtown gift basket with fun items for the whole group to share.

Keeping with tradition, dental care treat bags donated by Pediatric Dental Associates will be given out at the Albany Downtown Association office at 126 Ferry St. SW.
