Albany Oregon’s Community Christmas Tree is a heartfelt, volunteer-driven initiative that brings holiday cheer to the heart of Historic Downtown Albany.
Created from a desire for something more meaningful, beautiful, and unifying, the Community Christmas Tree brings together residents, local businesses, and volunteers in a project that reflects the spirit of the season. Everyone can take part, whether by volunteering, becoming an event sponsor, or purchasing a personalized tree decoration.
Community Christmas Tree launches Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Large tree ornament decorations, personalized with the name of your choice, will be displayed on light poles along Ellsworth and Lyon Streets throughout the holiday season. Proceeds from purchases and business sponsorships help fund the Community Christmas Tree and the festivities surrounding the annual lighting celebration.
Join us Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 2–8 p.m. for the annual Tree Lighting Celebration in Historic Downtown Albany. Our small businesses will be participating in the nation-wide “Shop Small Saturday”, and we encourage everyone to see what Downtown Albany has to offer for the first few hours. Santa and his reindeer arrive at 4 p.m. and the celebration kicks off! The event will include music, hot cocoa, cookie decorating, photo-ops, beer garden, and Grinch Alley. Then gather for the countdown as the community Christmas tree lights up at 6 p.m.! There will be dancing and merriment until 8p.m.
Community Christmas Tree is more than just a tree. It is a symbol of what a community can accomplish together and a lasting reminder of the joy of giving, gathering, and glowing brighter, together.

After brightening Downtown Albany throughout the holiday season, your tree becomes a special keepsake, a piece of Downtown Albany’s holiday story to take home and treasure.
Trees may be picked up at the Albany Downtown Association office between January 1 and 31, 2027. After January, any remaining trees will be recycled.

Your sponsorship helps provide the beautifully decorated tree and supports the activities surrounding the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, November 28, 2026.

Personalized Tree Ornament — $125
Celebrate your family, business, organization, or someone special with a large Christmas tree ornament personalized with the name of your choice. Tree Ornaments will be displayed on light poles along Ellsworth and Lyon streets throughout the holiday season and becomes yours January 1st.
