The town of Albany developed on the Willamette River, with steamboats bringing commerce to a thriving waterfront. Today Downtown Albany is designated a National Register Historic District and includes many historic buildings in a variety of architectural styles, dating to the late 1800’s. As a city, we pride ourselves on historic preservation and our commitment to responsible development in Downtown. The Downtown remains the civic, commercial and social center of Albany. We invite you to enjoy the dining, shopping and entertainment Downtown has to offer.
Take it a step further and look for a place to stay for a weekend, make your new home a loft or relocate your business. Downtown is a great place to EAT SHOP PLAY and also visit, live and do business.
We couldn’t accomplish what we do without our members, sponsors, volunteers, committees and board. If you have a passion for Downtown Albany, we invite you to get involved.
Our Mission: “Promote the heart, vitality and uniqueness of Downtown Albany’s historic buildings and business.”
