The 23rd Downtown Twice Around Christmas Parade is set for Sunday, December 3, starting at 5 pm.
From the Albany Trolley and vintage trucks to floats and Caesar the No Drama Llama, our parade entries have something for everyone. Of course, Santa will be riding Albany’s Antique Fire Truck.
The parade route is from 1st & Broadalbin west to the Carousel, left on Calapooia, left on 2nd, left on Broadalbin and back to 1st. Then we go around again! There will be no cars parked on the route.
After the parade, attendees and participants will stroll down the block to the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Two Rivers Market lot, with holiday music by Glenn’s Mobile DJ.
The South Albany High School Choir will perform carols, then Mayor Alex Johnson II and a special guest will light the tree with Santa’s help.
Enjoy dinner and shopping before the event. Many Downtown cafes will be open for coffee & hot cocoa, including The Albany Pix Theatre, Jo Jo Macs, The Brim Coffee Co., and Margin Coffee Roasters.
Due to logistics, there will not be horse-drawn wagon rides after the parade.
This year’s Douglas Fir is over 40 feet tall and was donated by Weyerhaeuser and delivered by Ram Trucking on November 27. It was lifted into place and secured by three Pacific Power trucks. The tree was then decorated by the City of Albany’s Street Team with lights and ornaments provided by the Albany Downtown Association’s Design Committee. ADA’s festive tree surround was painted by local artist Billy Lanham.
Albany Downtown Association’s Promotion Committee organizes both the parade and tree lighting events. Find more info on Facebook and Instagram and at www.albanydowntown.com.
