If you’re looking for something old turned new, The Country Roost in Downtown Albany offers refurbished furniture with a warm aesthetic.

After summers of watching their kids play baseball together, Kristy Dark and Lisa LaPerle decided to team up and open a business based on a shared hobby, love of home decor and a knack for fun signs.

The pair hunt down furniture that they can then repurpose, repaint, or simply update. They both found a passion for pieces which are not Victorian, nor modern, but somewhere in between farmhouse and shabby chic. Their dining sets, end tables, dressers, buffets and more would fit into any home’s atmosphere.

The Country Roost owners repurpose items, like a headboard turned front door coat rack which sold quickly to a new homeowner for her entryway. Kristy noted that “both of us just have a lot of fun and like to see what we can turn a piece into.”

Opened last fall, their retail space has been a focus for refurbished furniture and home decor. They recently completed a redesign to the layout in their store.  Lisa said, “It really opens up our space, allows the customers to flow through better, and gives our space a more authentic and comfortable feel.”

Along with refurbished furniture, The Country Roost sells home décor, signs, lamps, soaps, lotions, purses, jewelry, candles and many gift ideas.

Watch their Facebook page for new items and event announcements like Crafting Sessions.
