Volunteers Needed to Prep Downtown for Fall

Volunteers Needed to Prep Downtown for Fall
September 13, 2023 Lise Grato

As we move into fall, the ADA’s Design Committee has many activities to prep for events. It’s a key time to volunteer!

Hanging Basket Takedown – Sunday, September 17

On Sunday, September 17, we will say goodbye to summer and take down our hanging baskets. Grab your gloves and meet the Design Committee at the ADA office at 9 am to receive assignments. We need 4 teams of 3 volunteers to remove the baskets and bring them to Two Rivers Market, plus 5-6 volunteers to clean the soil out of the pots. We’ll be finished by noon and enjoy some treats.

Downtown Clean-Up – Sunday, October 15

On Sunday, October 15, join us to pull summer weeds, add bark dust and clean up downtown to get ready for fall events: Downtown Trick or Treat (Oct 28), Downtown Unwrapped (Nov 2-5) and the Albany Veterans’ Parade (Nov 11).

Meet at the ADA office at 9 am for clean-up assignments. Bring tools if you can.

Adopt-A-Block – Street Tree Lights – Last week of October

Do you love the twinkle lights that adorn the Downtown Street Trees in the fall and winter? We need individuals and businesses to “Adopt-A-Block” and put lights on the trunks of 10-12 trees (no branches or ladders). It only takes one lunch break, and you’ve helped our community spirit.

To get involved on a regular basis, we invite you to join one of our committees:
