The 19th Annual Downtown Twice Around Christmas Parade is set for  Sunday, December 2 at 5 pm.

From cars and trucks to horse-drawn wagons and the Albany Historic Trolley, this year’s entries have something for everyone.  Watch  for Santa himself riding the Antique Albany Fire Truck.

The parade route is from 1st & Broadalbin down past the Carousel, around to 2nd back to Broadalbin to 1st and around again to the Community Tree.

The Community Tree Lighting Ceremony follows the parade at Two Rivers Market. The South Albany High School Choir will be performing carols then Mayor Sharon Konopa and a child light the tree. Santa will have candy canes for the kids.

Many businesses will stay open to welcome visitors and offer hot cocoa. Chafin Farms will provide free horse-drawn wagon rides after the parade (rides co-sponsored by Burnham Metal).

This year’s tree is over 50 feet tall and was donated by Weyerhaeuser, delivered by Ram Trucking, decorated by the City of Albany and the tree-top star was added by the Albany Fire Department.  The Albany Downtown Association and local volunteers orchestrate both events.
