People of all ages and walks of life, the young, old, tall or short or fast walkers, slow crawlers, the furry, the feathered and the fanciful are invited to participate in the 10th annual Procession of the Species, a favorite rite of spring in Downtown Albany, Saturday, April 22, 2018. Participants gather in front of the Linn County Courthouse on Fourth Avenue, where the parade begins at 10 a.m.
Procession of the Species is a celebration of nature that brings Albany residents and people from outlying communities together to honor and respect each other and the natural world. Participants are encourage to dance, flutter and prance their way into spring using music, art, and their creativity to celebrate our environment.
Procession of the Species is an opportunity for the people to come together and celebrate the environment, the earth and nature in a fun and positive activity.
The parade doesn’t allow motorized vehicles, written signs or banners or live animals. This event is held in conjunction with the Albany Farmer’s Market. Several community vendors are on sight that promote environmental stewardship and recreational opportunities.
