Inspiration, entertainment and fun can be found at Midsummer Arts, a free, community-driven festival of arts and culture, Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Monteith Riverpark, Downtown Albany.
Midsummer Arts features performances from local dance, music, and theater companies, and much more. Midsummer Arts also offers several hands-on ways to get involved, from interactive workshops to arts and crafts activities for kids. Who knows, coming to the festival will eventually lead you to being a dancer or singer on stage in a future Midsummer Arts!
Midsummer Arts is all-volunteer, created by and for the community as a way to showcase our best local talent. In 2013, the festival started with performances by Legacy Ballet, Albany Civic Theater, and a production of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.” In 2014, the festival featured the original comedy “Little Red Robin Hood,” written specifically for the festival. Also in 2014, we had a scavenger hunt that took kids through the park and downtown, as they found interesting information about the arts and downtown businesses.
To get involved in the 2018 event, volunteers and performing groups can contact Michael Winder, Board President at [email protected].
